SHIT-LAHOMA

Dark, Depressing and cheap there’s only a single set they use and the actors are terrible I wanted to puke after , just a complete wast of time .

NOT ABOUT OKLAHOMA

The wonderful music was lost in the update of the story line. The relevance of some of the exaggerated acting didn't help to develop any chemistry among the actors. As with other comments - this play was not an adaptation of an old musical. It should have been promoted with a different name to promote its message - whatever it was. (still scratching my head about the relevance of the Dream Ballet Scene - first scene in Act II.) Glad I stayed after intermission as I was dumbfounded watching it and would not have believed it - this would be hard to explain - a totally irrelevant act to give someone the floor to do some type of modern ballet something.. The set was a hodge-podge of modern vs western. And what a very warehouse type of a set. Cold and unwelcoming. Picnic tables was about it. Bud Light cans - seriously??? And an actual stage hand coming on stage to remove a prop mid-scene?? I did watch the actual movie the next day from 1955. The dialogue was actually true to script - but the acting and interpretation was so totally opposite. DItto to ALL the comments on this page that gave it 1 or 2 stars. How this won a Tony for best reimagined musical raised doubts for me in the entire process to recognize quality. Stay home and stream the 1955 movie!!

WE LOOKED FORWARD TO THE SHOW, BUT HATED IT.

From the start, this show was an understated, even dispirited, version of the original. It is intentionally non-traditional, but it seemed lifeless to me. We left at the intermission - a first for us at the Kennedy Center.

KENNEDY CENTER PRODUCTION AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

Saw the show on April 7 at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington. A few of the actors were fine. Some of the singing was pleasant. BUT all in all it was an amateurish mishmash with one appalling "ballet" number that was essentially so bad it was good. What a joke! If I get COVID, it will be the appropriate icing on the cake.

CAN'T RECOMMEND AT ALL...

I went to this performance with high expectations of an updated, uplifting new version of Oklahoma. I knew this wasn't a full performance with full staging, so I had no problem with the staging. I thought the picnic tables and corn husking scene were great. I thought the darkened stage with close camera work was very creative. The "country" musicians were perfect. It was a diverse cast with wonderful talent in most all cases. However.... The second act went downhill and downhill. The dream dance sequence was terrible from the electric guitar that was painful to listen to, to the dance routine that seemed 8th grade level with lots of galloping around the stage and amateurish movements. The dark stage scenes in this act didn't hit the mark at all. The first Oklahoma song redition was wonderful (I wanted to sing along!). Then came the end that fell apart terribly. I think they were trying to make a social commentary; they made no social statement at all. I felt like I was watching the movie Carrie again. The killing the way they did it made no sense, the blood spattered faces and clothing were ridiculous, the final song and scene was absolutely terrible. It's hard to know what to say because it was so bad! After leaving I read reviews of the show. I wish I had read them before; I wouldn't have wasted my money. I'm disappointed in Kennedy Center to present such a poor performance. I'm sad this was my first post-pandemic show.

WORST EVER

Don’t go, really awful all around. And some really crazy random dance immediately after the intermission.

REPLACES MATILDA AS WORST KENNEDY CENTER EXPERIENCE

Most unattractive, untalented bunch my misfortune to witness on almost any stage. There was greater entertainment value in the old Greyhound Bus Terminal at 3:00 am than this abomination; much more interesting characters in a more charming setting. Bud Light beer cans! Really? Whoever selected this offering should go back to ordering the plastic cutlery and paper napkins for the K C Terrace Cafe. Our tolerance for suffering only lasted 45 minutes.
